Functions

Hippocrates stated that all disease begins in the gut. Modern medicine is beginning to understand and accept the concept of immune function and gastrointestinal health being interdepen- dent. The gut becomes "leaky" in the sense that bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasites and their toxins, and undi- gested foods such as proteins, nerve and connective tissue, fat, and waste normally not absorbed into the bloodstream in the healthy state pass through a damaged, hyper-permeable, leaky gut. When these foreign substances enter the bloodstream, the immune system goes into reaction mode and begins creating antibodies against its own tissues. Chronic overstimulation of the immune system leads to inflammation and what is quite often referred to as autoimmune disease. Leaky gut syndrome has become an epidemic in modern times, as evidenced by the epidemic of allergies and chronic diseases. Indications

Gut Restorative PRP contains pure bovine colostrum, a unique protein, rich in immune-related components that are biologi- cally transferable to humans. It is an abundant source for naturally-occurring growth factors including IGF-1, EGF, TGF-a, TGF-b, FGF, and proline-rich polypeptides (PRPs). PRPs are the most powerful modulators of immune response and regulate the cytokine response that causes inflammation in the body. We know that leaky gut syndrome: • Causes most food allergies. • Causes a weakened ability to resist infectious organ- isms. • Creates a long list of mineral deficiencies • Is almost always associated with autoimmune dis- ease. So which individuals might want to consider using utilizing Gut Restorative PRP as a gut support product? • Seniors who have a long history of NSAID ad- ministration for arthritis. Chronic administration of NSAIDs causes both gastric and intestinal permeabil- ity and damage. • Patients with chronic pain challenges. Colostrum has been proven in both animal and human trials to prevent and heal leaky gut syndrome. CLINICAL NOTES: When considering gut restoration, probiotics are often the first consideration. However, in leaky gut syndrome, the adminis- tration of probiotics when the gut is still permeable may create additional problems as the probiotics permeate through the gut wall, and may cause an allergic response. Leaky gut syndrome can be resolved in 4-6 weeks with appropriate treatment. Ex- tensive probiotic supplementation should be withheld until the leaky gut has healed.
